RBC Royal Bank and RBC Dominion Securities are gold sponsors and Investors Group is a silver sponsor of the event.

Rotary Rib 'n' Roll, Brampton's popular ribfest, is now running three days on May 27, 28 and 29 at Gage Park -Friday evening 5 to midnight;  Saturday from 12 noon to midnight and Sunday Noon until 8 p.m.

"The event continues to grow year on year, and by adding a third day we thought we could have even a greater impact for kids. Ribs, rock n roll and the chance to raise money to help kids with cancer. You can’t beat it.” says event Chair Rob van Kessel.

On Saturday, teams of rollerbladers compete for the Rib n Roll Corporate Challenge Cup. It’s 45 minutes of skating around the track at Gage Park. Corporate teams are invited to raise pledges and compete and all proceeds from the roll portion of the event go to Tour for Kids. Visit www.ribnroll.com for details on how to join the corporate challenge.

“Last year Royal Bank Canada (RBC) and RBC Dominion Securities combined to raise more than $20,000 for Tour for Kids. Their commitment from every branch across the city is a terrific example of giving back to the community. We don’t expect every group to raise that kind of money, but we do hope they will come out and participate,” van Kessel says.

The Family Day program on Saturday and Sunday is expanded this year to include even more activities for children including buskers, bouncy castles and face painters. There is a show both Saturday and Sunday afternoon.

“Friday tends to be an adult night but the rest of the weekend is all is all about family."

The music is non- stop Friday through Sunday. This year’s lineup includes The Dave Murphy Band, Practically Petty, Uptown Express, New Hollywood, Cornerstone, Stacey Zegers, Hidden Agenda, Marc Ekins, and the Fleetwood Nicks.

Check www.ribnroll.com for details and times.

“Admission is free but we hope people will make a voluntary contribution at the gate. Even a toonie would be great because it all goes to a great cause.”

Rotary Rib 'n' Roll ribber lineup includes Jake's Boathouse, Louisiana Seafood Oyster Bar and Grill, Crabby Joes, Executive Chef and P&P Catering, a new addition this year.

"Rotary believes in supporting local business, and we get terrific support from local business as well. Key sponsors include City of Brampton, RBC Royal Bank, RBC Dominion Securities, Investors Group, Reliance Home Comfort, Amber Brewery, The Marketing PAD, The Brampton Guardian, Rogers TV, Lawrences, The Rose Theatre, Meri-Mac and  Rotary Glen Wedding & Corporate Events,” says event chair Rob van Kessel.

Rib 'n' Roll grew out of Rotary Blade-a-thon, a rollerblading event sponsored by The Rotary Club of Brampton that started 13 years ago. It is the rollerblading component from 12 noon to 12:45 p.m. at Gage Park on Saturday that supports the activities of Tour for Kids, an organization that works with children who have cancer.  Learn more about this organization at www.tourforkids.com
